What We Do
What we do
Championing South Bank
We are the force that gets things started and makes things happen.
- We bring together both public and private institutions and help them find common cause to protect and enhance this unique area for the benefit of all.
- We engage decision-makers for South Bank to influence decisions affecting our neighbourhood, regularly raising issues with local Members of Parliament and central government, the Mayor of London and the boroughs.
- We amplify our members’ voices with those in power as we press for improvements to infrastructure and the public realm and in supporting our economy and employments sectors.
Improving South Bank
We want to make South Bank even better because there is nowhere quite like it and we must protect its special quality.
Promoting South Bank
We love to share this special place with people from London and the rest of the UK, as well as visitors from all over the world.
Protecting South Bank
We work to ensure we maintain the magic of this internationally renowned, and locally loved, area. We do this in two ways – safety and security, and neighbourhood management.

How do we do this?
We champion London’s South Bank for businesses, residents, students, employees and visitors, by setting the agenda, breaking the mould, facilitating cooperation, delivering programmes that bring improvement and change, and protecting and enhancing this unique area to the benefit of us all.
We deliver and manage several services that are vital in keeping the neighbourhood safe, clean and green. We manage a variety of funds that benefits the area, including revenue from our members and other organisations, the London Eye, and South Bank Business Improvement District (BID).
We were the first neighbourhood in London to create a destination brand and website: South Bank London, through which we promote South Bank – and our members and BID levy paying businesses – to Londoners, and UK domestic and international audiences.
Our model helped inspire the UK’s Business Improvement District (BID) system and we launched South Bank BID in 2014 enabling more local organisations to get involved in improving, managing, and promoting South Bank. We will continue to run the BID through 2030. Our vision transformed Jubilee Gardens into an iconic green space for the London Olympics, and we continue to manage and maintain the Gardens on behalf of Jubilee Gardens Trust.
Behind the scenes, we are delivery agents, managing everything from project implementation to finance and all aspects of corporate governance.
We do all this because of our exceptional staff, shared expertise, and our collaborative working practices – as a team, with our members, and with our partners and other stakeholders. We believe wholeheartedly that SBEG’s purpose and our values bring success not only for our own organisation and our people but for everyone we work with, and those who live, work, study in and visit South Bank
